Who We Are
A humanitarian and development organisation, rooted in the communities it serves.
Love Africa Humanitarian and Development Initiative (LAHDI) is a humanitarian and development organisation working to improve lives, strengthen communities and create sustainable opportunities across Africa.
We were formed around a simple conviction: that the people closest to a problem are closest to its solution, and that the job of an organisation like ours is to stand with them — with resources, technical capability, and a commitment that does not end when a project cycle does.
Our work spans immediate relief and long-term development. In practice that means responding when families are displaced or a harvest fails, and staying afterwards to help rebuild livelihoods, strengthen schools and clinics, and support the local institutions that hold a community together.

Our Values
Six commitments that decide how we design a programme, who holds the decisions, and what we publish afterwards.
- Human Dignity
- Every person we work with is a neighbour, not a case number. Dignity shapes how we speak, how we photograph, and how we design a programme.
- Community Ownership
- Communities set the priorities and hold the plan. Our role is to add capacity to work that people are already doing for themselves.
- Integrity
- We say what we will do, do it, and report what actually happened — including the parts that did not go as planned.
- Inclusion
- Women, young people, people with disabilities and displaced households are designed into a programme from the start, never added at the end.
- Sustainability
- We measure success by what remains standing after we step back: local skills, local structures and local leadership.
- Accountability
- We are answerable first to the communities we serve, and equally to the donors and partners who make the work possible.
Our method
How We Work
Four steps that run in order and then repeat. The last one is the one most projects skip, and the one that decides whether anything lasts.

Listen
We begin by understanding community needs — sitting with residents, leaders and local institutions before a single activity is designed.
Step 02
Partner
We work alongside communities, institutions and partners, building on the structures and knowledge that already exist locally.
Step 03
Act
We implement practical, locally relevant solutions — delivered with communities rather than handed to them.
Step 04
Sustain
We focus on long-term impact and community ownership, transferring skills and responsibility so results outlast the programme.
