Draft — requires review by LAHDI’s legal counsel
This document sets out the structure and the sections a policy of this kind needs. It is not legal advice, and it makes no claim about LAHDI’s actual practices. Every clause must be checked against how the organisation genuinely operates, and against the law in each jurisdiction where it works, before this page is published.
Effective date to be confirmed on publication.
Love Africa Humanitarian and Development Initiative ("LAHDI", "we", "us") is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. Our registered details and contact address are published on the Trust & Transparency page as soon as they are confirmed.
We only collect data you actively give us through one of three forms.
We do not collect or store card numbers, CVV codes or bank credentials. Card details are entered on our payment provider’s own secure, PCI-DSS compliant page and are never transmitted to or through this website.
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and loads no third-party analytics or social media scripts.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We share it only with the service providers needed to operate this site — our payment provider, our email delivery provider and our hosting provider — each acting on our instructions under a written agreement, and only for the purposes above.
We may disclose data where we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to protect someone from harm.
Donation records are retained for the period required by financial and tax record-keeping law. Contact enquiries are retained for as long as needed to handle the matter and for a reasonable period afterwards. Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe. Abuse-prevention hashes are retained for a short, fixed period.
The exact retention periods will be confirmed by LAHDI and published here.
Subject to the applicable law where you live, you have the right to ask us for a copy of your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details on our contact page. You also have the right to complain to the relevant data protection authority.
This site is served over HTTPS with strict transport security. All form input is validated on the server, database queries are parameterised, and a Content Security Policy restricts what the browser is permitted to load or execute.
No system is perfectly secure, but we take the protection of donor and beneficiary data seriously and design for it deliberately.
This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of majority through it. Data relating to children participating in our programmes is governed by our safeguarding and data protection policies, not by this website policy.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting how we use data you have already given us will be notified directly where we hold a means of contacting you.
